Apollo’s AyurVaid Expands Footprint with Four New Hospitals

Apollo Hospitals’ Ayurveda arm, AyurVaid, is set for major expansion with plans to open four new hospitals within the next three months. This move will increase its network to 16 hospitals with over 350 beds, reflecting the growing interest in Ayurveda, especially among younger patients, according to a senior company executive.

Strategic Expansion in Metro Cities

Dr. Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice-Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprises and Chairperson of AyurVaid, announced that the new hospitals will be located in metro cities across eastern and western India, including Mumbai and Kolkata. “These hospitals will complement modern medicine,” she stated. “After this phase, we will focus on refining our integrative care model before scaling up further.”

Ayurveda Gains Mainstream Recognition

Dr. Reddy called this moment an inflection point for Ayurveda’s adoption, highlighting the IRDAI mandate that recognizes Ayurveda on par with modern medicine for insurance purposes. She made the remarks during the launch of a new AyurVaid hospital on Greams Road in Chennai, located near Apollo’s main campus, alongside Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Founder and Chairman of the Apollo Hospitals Group.

Young Adults Driving the Shift to Ayurveda

Contrary to common assumptions, younger adults aged 25–45 are increasingly embracing Ayurveda, said Rajiv Vasudevan, Founder and Managing Director of AyurVaid Hospitals. “We are adopting an evidence-based, clinically governed approach to this ancient system of medicine,” he noted. “The Ayurvedic philosophy of whole-person health and root-cause analysis is proving particularly effective for patients dealing with multi-morbidity, complex non-communicable diseases, and those requiring step-down care after major illnesses.”

Holistic Specialties and Offerings

As reported by TOI, the newly launched hospital will provide comprehensive Ayurvedic care across multiple specialties, including orthopaedics, neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders, women’s health, para-surgical treatments, and sports medicine. In addition, the facility will offer Ayurvedic products, such as classical medicines, medical foods, and over-the-counter formulations, reinforcing AyurVaid’s vision of integrating traditional wisdom with modern healthcare delivery.
