AI Takes Centre Stage in AYUSH
The Ministry of Ayush is expanding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across Ayurveda and other traditional medicine systems. Building on the digital infrastructure of Ayush Grid, the ministry is using AI to support healthcare, research, education and citizen services.
AI-Powered Services
The ministry has introduced several AI-based tools to improve access to AYUSH information and services. These include the MAISP Chatbot for citizen queries, the ARP Research Assistant for researchers and the eLMS Chatbot for students and educational institutions.
Meanwhile, e-CHARAK supports medicinal-plant trade, while Yoga Saarthi offers yoga recommendations and Nivesh Saarthi assists with investment-related information in the AYUSH sector.
Focus on AI-Driven Healthcare
The ministry is also developing AI solutions for electronic health records, disease-trend detection and personalised treatment support. These initiatives aim to improve healthcare delivery and generate useful clinical insights.
As per PIB.gov.in, the ministry is working with IndiaAI and the Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD), MeitY to explore AI, language technologies and digital health solutions for the AYUSH ecosystem.
Expanding Access Through Technology
Furthermore, AYUSH Grid portals are now available in 22 scheduled Indian languages through the Bhashini collaboration. This expansion can help practitioners, students and citizens access AYUSH resources more easily.
The ministry is also making selected AYUSH-related AI resources available through AI Kosh, supporting wider research and innovation.
Combining Tradition With AI
The ministry says AI will support rather than replace traditional Ayurvedic knowledge. By combining established medical knowledge with modern technology, AYUSH aims to make information more accessible, connected and evidence-based for users in India and abroad.
