New Robotic Surgery System
Intuitive Surgical has launched its da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system in India, expanding its presence in the country’s growing robotic surgery market.
The company is also exploring telesurgery, which could allow specialists to remotely assist surgeons during complex procedures. Regulatory approvals will be required before the technology can be introduced in India.
Growing Demand in India
According to Moneycontrol, India has more than 275 da Vinci systems and around 2,000 trained robotic surgeons. Surgeons have also performed more than 200,000 da Vinci procedures in the country.
Intuitive expects the Indian market to grow further as more hospitals adopt robotic-assisted surgery.
Advanced Technology
The da Vinci 5 features more than 150 design improvements, including Force Feedback, enhanced 3D imaging and a more ergonomic surgeon console.
The system also offers significantly greater computing power, which could support future AI-based features, surgical guidance and connected-care technologies.
With these developments, Intuitive is positioning da Vinci 5 as a platform for the next generation of robotic and potentially remote-assisted surgery.
