BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), in collaboration with the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) India, has launched INSPIRE—Infusion Nursing Summit for Practice, Innovation, Recognition & Excellence. This national initiative aims to elevate IV-line safety, enhance clinical practices, and empower nurses across all INS chapters in India.
First INSPIRE Summit Held in Pune
The inaugural INSPIRE event took place in Pune, bringing together over 50 senior nursing professionals and educators from leading hospitals. The summit focused on advancing infusion therapy standards, promoting a culture of safety, and encouraging professional collaboration within the nursing community.
Leadership Voices Champion the Program
Col. Binu Sharma, President of INS India, praised BD India for creating a platform that brings senior nursing leaders together. She noted,
“Initiatives like INSPIRE are vital for nurturing a safe infusion therapy culture and empowering upcoming nurses. With a goal to reach over 5,000 nurses across major metros, the INSPIRE program will continue through city-based events and in-hospital training, culminating in a national recognition ceremony at the INS Conference in November 2025.”
Atul Grover, Managing Director of BD India/South Asia, also emphasized the significance of the initiative:
“INSPIRE represents our continued collaboration with INS to transform IV-line care through knowledge sharing and clinical excellence. This effort reflects our shared commitment to improving patient safety, enhancing professional development, and advancing the world of health.”
Knowledge Sharing and Safety-Focused Discussions
As per the press release, the Pune event featured Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions on critical safety topics such as needle stick injury prevention, infusion safety, and CRBSI (Catheter-Related Bloodstream Infection) guidelines. A key highlight was the expert panel discussion titled “Safeguarding Care: A Dual Focus on Patient and Healthcare Worker Safety”, where leaders from top healthcare institutions shared real-world strategies and insights to improve safety outcomes for both patients and care providers.
INSPIRE to Expand Nationwide
Looking ahead, BD India and INS plan to extend the INSPIRE program across major Indian metros. The initiative will unfold through a series of regional summits and in-hospital training sessions. It aims to reach thousands of nurses, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and recognition they deserve.
