In a strategic move to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, BPL Medical Technologies and Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership aims to drive innovation in medical devices while providing students and researchers with hands-on experience and real-world exposure.

Leaders Commit to Advancing Healthcare Technology

Dr. Shravan Subramanyam, Managing Director of BPL Medical Technologies, and Dr. Uma Sekar, Vice Chancellor of SRIHER, formalized the agreement in the presence of key representatives from both institutions. Attendees included Mr. Guruswamy K (CEO, BPL Medical Technologies), Mr. Amit Nagpal (VP Sales), Mr. Ghanashyam Giri (Zonal Sales Manager), Dr. S. Senthil Kumar (Registrar, SRIHER), and Dr. K. Balaji Singh (Dean, Medical College).

Dr. Subramanyam emphasized the transformative nature of the collaboration. “This marks a pivotal shift for BPL MedTech—from being a trading organization to becoming a product development and manufacturing leader. Leveraging world-class testing facilities and clinical expertise will enable us to deliver practical, affordable medical devices not only for India but also for emerging markets worldwide,” he said.

Dr. Sekar echoed this vision, adding, “This partnership gives our students and researchers invaluable exposure to real-world challenges while contributing to meaningful healthcare innovations.”

As per Business Standard, this MoU underscores the commitment of both institutions to fostering translational research. It also highlights their focus on promoting ‘Make in India’ medical solutions. Together, BPL Medical Technologies and SRIHER will focus on developing clinically validated, cost-effective medical devices. These next-generation solutions will be specifically designed to meet the needs of emerging economies.

The agreement also includes initiatives such as academic research collaboration, joint educational programs, scholar exchanges, and internship opportunities. These efforts aim to bridge the gap between academic training and industry requirements in healthcare technology.
