Dr Vineet Talwar Takes Charge as Medical Director of RGCIRC

Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre (RGCIRC) has appointed Dr Vineet Talwar as its Medical Director, effective September 1, 2026. A senior medical oncologist, Dr Talwar has been associated with RGCIRC for more than two decades and previously served as Director of Medical Oncology.

He has contributed to medical oncology, clinical research, academic training and multidisciplinary cancer care at the institute.

Clinical and Research Expertise

As per the press release, Dr Talwar holds a DM in Medical Oncology from the Cancer Institute, Adyar, Chennai, and has authored more than 140 papers in peer-reviewed journals. His clinical interests include genitourinary, gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary and breast oncology. He has also participated in Phase II, III and IV clinical trials and holds memberships in ESMO, ASCO, ISO and ICON.

Focus on Innovation and Patient Care

As Medical Director, Dr Talwar will work with RGCIRC’s leadership and clinical teams to strengthen multidisciplinary care, quality standards, academic programmes and research.

Dr Talwar said, “Oncology is evolving rapidly, and our focus must remain on bringing together clinical excellence, multidisciplinary decision-making, research and compassionate care. Dr Dharmendra Singh Gangwar, CEO, RGCIRC, said Dr Talwar’s clinical expertise, institutional experience and commitment to patient care make him well suited to the role.

His appointment comes as RGCIRC continues to expand its clinical and research capabilities and strengthen evidence-based, multidisciplinary cancer care.
