Strengthening Manufacturing Presence in Sri City
This new unit expands Healthium Medtech’s current operations in Sri City, where the company began manufacturing in 2012 at its SEZ facility. The existing unit produces sutures and meshes. The addition of Unit 2 further strengthens the company’s position in a region that has emerged as a competitive hub for medtech manufacturing.
Employment Generation and Economic Growth
The proposed facility is expected to create 300 direct jobs—including both payroll and contract roles—within the factory by 2027. Additionally, the project will generate around 100 indirect opportunities. These will arise through supply chain activities, logistics, services, and ancillary units. This growth aligns with India’s medtech market trajectory toward USD 30 billion by 2030. It underscores the need for advanced manufacturing capacity and a skilled workforce.
Enhancing Production Capacity and Local Participation
By increasing its production footprint, Healthium aims to deepen local workforce participation and create long-term career pathways in Andhra Pradesh. The new unit will broaden the company’s production capabilities across surgical, post-surgical, and chronic care segments. This expansion will further support India’s growing medtech ecosystem.
Leadership Perspectives on the Expansion
Anish Bafna, CEO and Managing Director of Healthium Medtech, stated, “With our growing footprint and the need for stronger manufacturing capabilities, establishing this new unit in Sri City reflects the rising demand for resilient, high-quality medtech production. The region’s industrial readiness, connectivity, and skilled workforce give us a solid foundation to scale and integrate efficiently with suppliers and ancillary services.”
Sudeep Dhariwal, Group CFO, added, “This expansion demonstrates our disciplined approach to long-term capital allocation. Strengthening our presence in Sri City allows us to optimise costs, improve operational efficiency, and plan capacity to meet future market demands. Strategic investments like this are essential for sustaining competitiveness as the Indian medtech sector grows.”
Support from State and Industry Leaders
As per the press release, CM Saikanth Varma, IAS, CEO of APEDB, noted, “This project reinforces Sri City’s position as a preferred destination for advanced medical device manufacturing. It helps build a deeper industrial ecosystem and supports long-term competitiveness.”
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director of Sri City, congratulated the Healthium team and said, “Healthium’s expansion reaffirms Sri City’s strength as a high-performing industrial hub where multiple manufacturing sectors converge and scale globally.”
Advancing Andhra Pradesh’s Medtech Value Chain
Healthium Medtech’s expansion marks a significant step in strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s medical devices value chain. The partnership brings fresh investment, specialised skills, and new supporting industries into the region, delivering lasting economic impact and contributing to the State’s long-term industrial development goals.
