The Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Head & Neck Cancer Institute of India (HNCII), India’s only dedicated super-specialty institute focused exclusively on head and neck cancers, marked its third Foundation Day with an oncology conference that brought together leading experts to discuss advances and challenges in oral cancer care.
Held under the theme “Controversies Shaping Modern Oral Cancer Care,” the conference encouraged scientific exchange and multidisciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes.
Advancing Evidence-Based Cancer Care
The programme reaffirmed HNCII’s commitment to clinical excellence, research and education in head and neck oncology. Experts highlighted the importance of evidence-based treatment, early diagnosis and collaborative decision-making in tackling the growing burden of oral cancer.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sultan A. Pradhan, Chairman and Senior Oncologist, said, “Head and neck cancers continue to pose a significant healthcare challenge in India. The conference featured the 3rd HNCII Foundation Day Oration by Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Director, Tata Memorial Centre, along with keynote addresses by Dr. Zarir Udwadia, Ms. Padmini Sekhsaria and Dr. Murad Lala. Speakers discussed clinical practice, disease prevention and patient resilience, reinforcing the need for a holistic approach to cancer care.
Immunotherapy and Young Talent Take Centre Stage
Expert panel discussions examined treatment approaches for early-stage oral cancers and the expanding role of immunotherapy in advanced disease, highlighting the value of personalised, multidisciplinary care.
The event also included an Inter College Quiz Competition, encouraging academic excellence among young medical professionals.
