Odisha Signs 10 MoUs to Strengthen Healthcare, Trauma Care and Medical Education

The Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department has signed 10 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading national and international institutions to enhance trauma care, medical education, research, laboratory services and healthcare infrastructure across the state. Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling described the initiative as a “historic step” towards improving healthcare delivery and expanding access to quality medical services.

Focus on Trauma Care and Medical Training

The agreements cover several key areas, including trauma care, Ayurveda, diagnostic services, medical education and healthcare innovation. A major partnership with AIIMS New Delhi’s Centre for Emergency and Trauma Care will help establish a Centre of Excellence for Trauma Care in the state, while collaborations with Gujarat’s I-Hub and the All India Institute of Ayurveda will promote medical innovation, startups, modern teaching methods and traditional Indian healthcare practices.

According to The Economic Times, the MoUs also aim to upgrade laboratories at district and sub-divisional hospitals, improve patient care and strengthen Odisha’s overall healthcare infrastructure.

Better Facilities for Patients

The state has also partnered with the Adani Group’s Seva Daan Aarogya Foundation to construct rest houses for attendants at government healthcare facilities. Additionally, collaborations with Amrita Hospital, Kochi, will support free screening and treatment for children with congenital heart disease, while other partnerships will strengthen research, diagnostic services and capacity-building across the healthcare system.

Advancing Public Healthcare

The Odisha government believes these collaborations will modernise healthcare services, improve medical education and create a more accessible, patient-centric health system. The initiative reflects the state’s continued focus on expanding quality healthcare infrastructure and building stronger public health services for the future.
