Hosmat to Add 200 New Beds, Enter Tier-2 Cities in Karnataka

Bengaluru-based Hosmat Hospitals has announced plans to add 150–200 beds over the next five years and expand beyond the city into tier-2 markets such as Mangaluru, Mysuru, and Karwar. The expansion will include new community clinics and a proposed multispeciality hospital.

Scaling Capacity and Revenue Growth

As reported by The Hindu Businessline, the three-hospital network currently operates 550 beds and is targeting 20–30% annual revenue growth, largely driven by its newest unit. While the group continues to remain privately owned, it aims to enhance its clinical footprint and service offerings across Karnataka.

Strategy: “Care Closer to People”

“We want to go deeper into Karnataka before expanding nationally. The aim is to bring care closer to people instead of them travelling long distances,” said Anisha Chandy Eckardt, Managing Director, Hosmat Hospitals.

Strengthening Home-Care Services

In parallel with its physical expansion, Hosmat is also strengthening its rapidly growing home-care division. The service currently treats 200–300 patients per week and has recorded 400% growth in the past year.

To expand this service further, the hospital plans to add 12 ambulances and convert them into mobile clinic units. These units will be staffed with physiotherapists, nurses, and lab technicians to deliver diagnostics, post-operative rehabilitation, and chronic care management at patients’ doorsteps.

Adding New Clinical Specialties

Hosmat continues to broaden its specialty care portfolio. It has recently introduced oncology, pain management, gynecology, and cosmetology, and will soon add cardiology and nephrology.

“Expansion into additional specialties is intentional and aligned with patient demand so they don’t have to move across hospitals,” Eckardt explained.

Strong Financial Performance

Hosmat is growing its topline at 20–30% year-on-year, supported by the scaling-up of its newest hospital. The network currently earns ₹12–13 crore in monthly revenues, with profitability showing a sharp improvement in FY25.
