In a landmark moment for India’s medical technology leadership, the Golden Robot Surgical Award 2025 was presented to two of the nation’s most distinguished robotic-surgery pioneers—Dr. Sudhir Srivastava (Founder, Chairman & CEO, SS Innovations International Inc.) and Dr. Sudhir Rawal (Medical Director, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Delhi). The honour was conferred at the 7th International Prostate Cancer Symposium & World Urologic Oncology Summit held at Mount Sinai, New York.
Renowned surgeon and philanthropist Dr. Ashutosh Tiwari presented the awards, along with global healthcare dignitaries Meryl and James Tisch. Leading voices from the international medical and research community attended the ceremony. Notably, previous recipients include pioneers such as Dr. Ashutosh Tewari and Dr. Mani Menon, underscoring the prestige associated with this recognition.
Celebrating Visionaries Transforming Surgical Innovation
This award honours the visionary leadership, pioneering contributions and patient-driven commitment demonstrated by both Dr. Srivastava and Dr. Rawal. Their combined efforts have expanded the boundaries of robotic surgery in India and positioned the country as a formidable force in global surgical innovation. By recognising the duo together, the 2025 edition highlights India’s rapidly growing influence in the global narrative of robotic healthcare.
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava: Champion of Indigenous Robotic Solutions
A trailblazer in cardiac and multi-specialty robotic surgery, Dr. Srivastava has led India’s first successful development of an indigenous surgical robot—the SSII Mantra. His work has made high-precision, cost-effective robotic surgery accessible to wider populations.
>In a recent address, he reiterated that robotic surgery is not a luxury but a modern healthcare necessity, noting that many patients now return home within two to three days due to minimally invasive techniques and accelerated recovery.
A Moment of Honour and Reflection
Upon receiving the Golden Robot Surgical Award, Dr. Srivastava said:
“I am deeply honoured to be recognised by the jury. This award reaffirms our shared vision of making advanced robotic surgery affordable and accessible to every patient in India and beyond. I dedicate this honour to my team, our surgeons, engineers and every patient who trusted us.”
Dr. Sudhir Rawal: Advancing Robotic Cancer Surgery in India
Dr. Rawal, a veteran urologist and oncologist, has consistently expanded the scope of robotic genito-urinary and onco-surgery in India. As Medical Director and Chief of Uro-Oncology at RGCIRC, he led the introduction of robotic cancer procedures. He later advanced complex surgeries using the SSII Mantra system.
Moreover, under his leadership, teams at RGCIRC executed multiple tele-surgeries using the SSII Mantra robot. This enabled specialist-led treatment for patients in remote regions and significantly widened access to high-quality cancer care.
A Legacy of Precision, Compassion and Impact
Over decades, both Dr. Srivastava and Dr. Rawal have transformed thousands of lives through their vision, surgical expertise and commitment to patient welfare. With thousands of robotic surgeries completed, their impact is undeniable. Their philanthropic initiatives further mark a defining chapter in India’s robotic surgery journey.
A Milestone for India’s Medical-Tech Leadership
As per the press release, the Golden Robot Surgical Award represents more than global honour. It signifies a new era where robotics, technology and clinical expertise come together to deliver safer, more precise and more accessible surgical care. This recognition also amplifies India’s fast-growing prominence in medical technology innovation.
As the world shifts toward affordable and scalable healthcare solutions, the 2025 recognition of Dr. Srivastava and Dr. Rawal sends a powerful message: Indian robotic surgeons are not just contributors. They are innovators, leaders and trend-setters shaping the future of global surgery.
