After an impressive series of showcases across Gujarat, SS Innovations International (SSII)—the creators of India’s first indigenously developed surgical robotic system—achieved a major milestone as the SSII MantraM ‘Made-in-India’ Surgical Robot Yatra reached the tea-garden city of Dibrugarh, Assam. The unit participated in ASACON 2025, the Annual Conference of the Assam Chapter of The Association of Surgeons of India. The event was held from October 24–26, 2025, at Assam Medical College. This marked a significant moment in SSII’s nationwide journey to democratize access to advanced healthcare.
Demonstrating India’s Leadership in Surgical Robotics
At Dibrugarh, SSII brought its cutting-edge MantraM Mobile Tele-Robotic Surgery Unit to doctors, surgeons, medical students, and the general public. The unit showcased how advanced robotic surgeries can now be guided remotely, offering hands-on experiences through its state-of-the-art mobile simulation bus. Participants explored the next generation of surgical innovation using the Mantra 3.0 robotic platform, India’s home-grown marvel in surgical robotics.
Empowering Surgeons and Students through Innovation
The Dibrugarh chapter of the Yatra exemplified SSII’s vision of democratizing surgical excellence. By engaging directly with healthcare professionals and medical students, the initiative provided first-hand exposure to India’s achievements in robotic surgery. It also inspired the next generation of medical innovators. Over 500 healthcare professionals participated in the event. This marks India’s first mobile robotic surgical training initiative to visit medical institutions nationwide.
Voices from the Medical Community
Welcoming the initiative, Dr. Subhash Khanna, Laparoscopic Surgeon and Founder-Director of Swagat Hospitals, said, “We are proud to host the SSII MantraM Surgical Robot Yatra at ASACON 2025. This initiative represents India’s growing strength in medical innovation and offers our students and faculty a glimpse into the future of surgical science. It’s a transformative moment—one that bridges gaps in access and brings quality surgical care closer to all communities.”
Driving Healthcare Transformation Across India
Sharing his perspective, Mr. Pankaj Kumar Poddar, Regional Sales Head (South & East) at SS Innovations International, stated, “Reaching Dibrugarh with the SSII MantraM Yatra fills us with immense pride. Showcasing our indigenously built robotic system at a platform like ASACON 2025 highlights India’s capabilities in healthcare technology. The Yatra is not just a technological showcase—it’s a movement to transform access to surgical care, empowering hospitals and doctors across the nation.”
Engineering Excellence Behind the MantraM Unit
Built on a BharatBenz 1824 chassis, the MantraM unit weighs 18,500 kg and measures 11.9m x 2.59m x 3.49m. Excluding the robotic system, the fully customized vehicle costs around INR 1.3 crore. SS Innovations meticulously designed the bus with a reinforced base, actuator-driven patient carts, and precision locking systems to ensure the robotic arms’ stability. Its expandable cabin accommodates surgical teams, while advanced air suspension and temperature-controlled interiors (21°C ± 3°C, 55% RH) preserve equipment integrity.
Redefining Healthcare Access through Indian Innovation
As per the press release, the MantraM initiative embodies SS Innovations’ unwavering commitment to revolutionizing healthcare through technology and precision engineering. By taking robotic surgery directly to hospitals, medical colleges, and rural communities, SSII is advancing surgical science. It is also breaking barriers in healthcare access.
