Global Health Limited (Medanta), one of India’s leading private multi-specialty tertiary care providers across the North and East regions, has announced plans to take over an 80-bedded cancer hospital in Indore. This strategic move will strengthen Medanta’s presence in Central India while complementing its existing 175-bedded multi-specialty facility in the city.
Strategic Location to Enhance Patient Access
Notably, the newly built cancer care hospital is located just 500 meters from Medanta’s current Indore facility. As a result, this proximity will enable the seamless launch of a comprehensive oncology program. Moreover, it will significantly enhance Medanta’s specialty offerings, ensuring better access to advanced cancer care for patients in the region.
Driving Synergies and Operational Efficiency
In addition, the integration of the two facilities is expected to create strong operational synergies. It will optimize capacity utilization, streamline patient flow, and improve overall efficiency. Consequently, patients will benefit from a more coordinated and comprehensive healthcare experience.
Details of the Business Transfer Agreement
Under the Business Transfer Agreement (BTA), Asian Institute of Oncology Private Limited will transfer its Indore business undertaking as a going concern to Medanta. As part of the agreement, Medanta will pay a consideration of ₹30 crore, which includes the assignment of a long-term lease.
Leadership Perspective on the Expansion
As reported by PR Newswire, Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO of Medanta, stated that the acquisition represents a natural extension of the hospital’s existing operations in Indore. He emphasized that the addition of state-of-the-art oncology infrastructure will fill a critical gap in specialty care while expanding the hospital’s service portfolio.
Furthermore, he noted that the new facility will complement the existing campus by improving patient access and enhancing operational efficiency. Ultimately, this integration reinforces Medanta’s commitment to delivering advanced, patient-centric healthcare and strengthening its position as a leading provider of specialized, high-quality care in the region.
