Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Jaishree Gajaraj emphasized the importance of awareness and early intervention during menopause. She said, “Menopause marks a natural yet transformative phase in a woman’s life. Awareness, understanding, and timely care can empower women to embrace this transition with confidence and positivity.”
Dr. Gajaraj highlighted that premature menopause can occur due to stress, unhealthy lifestyle habits, or certain medical conditions. She advised women to prioritize balanced nutrition, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and routine health check-ups to maintain hormonal health.
Citing national data, she noted that in India, the average age of menopause ranges from 45.5 to 47.5 years. The number of women in this age group is expected to increase from 43 million in 2015 to over 103 million by 2026. Despite 90% of women experiencing symptoms such as backache, disturbed sleep, and anxiety, fewer than half seek medical support. This, she said, underscores the pressing need for greater awareness and accessible menopause care.
