Novo Nordisk has announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI to drive AI-led transformation in healthcare. Through this collaboration, Novo Nordisk aims to accelerate the development of innovative treatment options and deliver them to patients more efficiently.

As part of the partnership, Novo Nordisk will integrate advanced AI capabilities to analyse complex datasets, identify promising drug candidates, and significantly reduce the time required to move from research to patient care. Moreover, the collaboration incorporates strict data protection measures, governance frameworks, and human oversight to ensure ethical and compliant AI usage.

Emphasising the importance of this initiative, Mike Doustdar, President and CEO of Novo Nordisk, stated that the partnership marks a crucial step in positioning the company at the forefront of the next era of healthcare. He highlighted that millions of people living with obesity and diabetes require better treatment options. Furthermore, he noted that AI enables researchers to analyse data at an unprecedented scale, uncover hidden patterns, and test hypotheses more rapidly—thereby accelerating the discovery and delivery of new therapies.

As per Novo Nordisk’s press release, pilot programmes will initially roll out across research and development, manufacturing, and commercial functions. Subsequently, the companies plan full-scale integration by the end of 2026.
