Red Ribbon Club Programme Held at KIMS College of Nursing

KIMS College of Nursing, Secunderabad, organised a Red Ribbon Club awareness programme to educate nursing students on HIV/AIDS prevention, early testing and social responsibility.

The NSS Unit of KIMS College of Nursing, in collaboration with the Telangana State AIDS Control Society (TGSACS), conducted the programme at the 15th Floor Auditorium of KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad.

Focus on Prevention and Awareness

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. K. Vidya Sagar, Project Director, TGSACS, highlighted the importance of sustained HIV/AIDS awareness, early detection and preventive measures. He also urged students to address misconceptions and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.

As per the TGSACS press release, Dr. Vidya Sagar said nursing students could serve as peer educators and take accurate HIV prevention information to the community.

Dr. S. Manimala Rao, Director of Medical Education (Academics), KIMS Hospitals, urged students to demonstrate compassion, professionalism and ethical responsibility while caring for people living with HIV/AIDS. She also highlighted the role of nurses in health education, counselling and patient advocacy.

Students Lead Awareness Activities

The programme featured poster presentations, a skit and a quiz competition focused on HIV prevention and social responsibility.

The event was attended by KIMS College of Nursing officials, faculty members, TGSACS representatives, NSS volunteers and students. It concluded with a call for greater awareness, reduced stigma and a compassionate approach towards people living with HIV/AIDS.
