Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a special healthcare campaign, Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, on September 17, coinciding with his birthday. The campaign focuses on strengthening healthcare services for women and children across India.
75,000 Health Camps to Be Organised
As part of the Abhiyaan, authorities will organise 75,000 health camps in healthcare facilities, including Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and Community Health Centres (CHCs). These camps aim to provide essential services specifically designed to meet the healthcare needs of women and children.
Campaign Duration and Objectives
As reported by The New Indian Express, the initiative will run until October 2, marking the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. By addressing maternal, child, and community health, the campaign aligns with the government’s vision of inclusive healthcare and stronger families.
Union Health Minister Calls for Collective Participation
Sharing the news on X, Union Health Minister JP Nadda stated that the Abhiyaan will strengthen healthcare access, improve quality care, and spread awareness. He also announced that Poshan Maah would be observed at all Anganwadis to promote nutrition, health awareness, and overall well-being.
Nadda further appealed to private hospitals and healthcare stakeholders to join this Jan Bhagidaari Abhiyan, emphasising that collective participation will accelerate progress toward Viksit Bharat.
Private Sector Welcomes the Initiative
Healthcare leaders and organisations hailed the campaign as a landmark step. Ameera Shah, President of NATHEALTH and Executive Chairperson of Metropolis Healthcare Ltd, said the initiative would empower women and build resilient communities by improving nutrition, antenatal and prenatal care, and health screening. She stressed that combining better access, nutrition, and awareness could transform community health nationwide.
Doctors’ Associations Express Support
The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) also extended its support. Dr. Rohan Krishnan, Chief Patron and former chairman of FAIMA, urged both government and private doctors—particularly in tier-3 and tier-4 cities and village PHCs—to actively participate.
FAIMA further appealed to non-BJP state governments to join the campaign, highlighting that political differences should not come in the way of a noble cause. The association reaffirmed its commitment to patient welfare and applauded the government for launching this thoughtful initiative.
