Prayatna Centre for Child Development has launched Kidsight, a free mobile application designed to help parents monitor their children’s growth and identify potential developmental variations early. The app was unveiled during ‘OPPAM’, a special event organised to mark World Occupational Therapy Day, and was officially launched by Adv. V. K. Minimol, Mayor of Kochi Corporation.

Kidsight App Helps Parents Track Developmental Milestones

Kidsight aims to help parents understand their children’s physical and cognitive development through age-appropriate developmental screening. The app addresses common parental concerns by offering preliminary guidance, educational videos and informative resources about childhood development. Additionally, the platform allows parents to share specific concerns about their children’s developmental progress. These features aim to improve awareness of developmental milestones and help families recognise when they may need professional guidance. However, Kidsight serves as an initial screening and awareness tool, not a substitute for medical diagnosis or professional evaluation. Parents can download the app free of charge on both Android and iOS devices.

Early Identification Can Support Timely Intervention

Adv. V. K. Minimol highlighted the importance of recognising developmental variations early. She noted that parents often find it challenging to track subtle changes in their children’s physical and cognitive growth amid busy daily routines. She emphasised that early identification can help parents seek timely guidance and support, potentially improving access to appropriate developmental interventions. Dr. Joseph Sunny Kunnacherry, Founder and Director of Prayatna Centre for Child Development, also stressed that every child’s developmental journey is unique. He explained that Kidsight aims to build parental awareness through preliminary screening and guidance, helping families recognise when professional assessment or intervention may be necessary.

OPPAM Event Promotes Occupational Therapy Awareness

The launch took place at Oberon Mall in Kochi as part of OPPAM, which attracted enthusiastic public participation. The event was attended by Councillor Shibi Soman, Oberon Mall Centre Manager Monu Nair and representatives from Prayatna. As part of the World Occupational Therapy Day celebrations, organisers conducted interactive therapy-based activities and engagement games for children and adults. Furthermore, the activities demonstrated how everyday routines can present challenges for some children. Through practical experiences, parents and caregivers gained a better understanding of these difficulties and the role occupational therapy can play in supporting children’s development.
