One-Day Protest Planned
Private hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Haryana will suspend services for 24 hours on September 1 to protest prolonged delays in claim settlements. The Haryana chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) said hospitals have faced significant financial strain as payments remain pending for more than six months.
IMA Warns of Complete Withdrawal
As per ETHealthworld, the IMA Haryana has warned that empanelled hospitals could completely withdraw from the scheme from September 16 if the government does not substantially improve the payment situation. The association noted that claims were expected to be cleared within 15 days, but the delays have continued for months.
Impact on Patients
Meanwhile, IMA Haryana has urged authorities to clear the outstanding dues and establish a reliable mechanism for timely future payments. It also warned that prolonged delays could affect healthcare access for economically weaker patients who depend on Ayushman Bharat services.
The association said hospitals have received repeated assurances over the past three years, but the payment issue remains unresolved.
