As more young Indians prioritise education, careers and financial stability, many are delaying parenthood. However, fertility declines with age, making timely planning and awareness increasingly important.

On World IVF Day, experts urge couples to seek early fertility assessment instead of waiting until IVF becomes the only option. As per the press release, nearly one in six couples worldwide experience infertility. In India, delayed marriages, obesity, stress, diabetes, PCOS and endometriosis are contributing to rising fertility concerns.

Fertility Is a Shared Responsibility

Infertility is not only a woman’s issue. Male factors account for nearly half of all infertility cases. Therefore, both partners should undergo evaluation together for timely diagnosis and treatment.

IVF is one of several fertility treatments. Depending on the diagnosis, doctors may recommend lifestyle changes, medication, hormonal therapy or IUI before considering IVF.

Timely Care Improves Outcomes

Female fertility begins to decline after 30 and more rapidly after 35. Meanwhile, advances such as embryo freezing, genetic testing and personalised treatment have improved IVF success rates. Emotional counselling also remains an important part of fertility care.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing chronic conditions and seeking medical advice early can improve fertility outcomes. World IVF Day serves as a reminder that infertility is a medical condition, not a stigma, and timely intervention offers couples the best chance of achieving parenthood.
