Renal hypoplasia (or kidney hypoplasia) is a condition where a part of the kidney does not fully develop in the womb. The kidney may be slightly smaller than usual and due to its smaller size, may not function as a normal-sized kidney. The condition is quite common with almost one baby in hundred born with a kidney smaller than its usual size.
