Apollo Hospitals Launches Apollo Athenaa

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd (AHEL) has launched Apollo Athenaa, Asia’s first cancer centre dedicated exclusively to women, at Defence Colony, New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the facility in the presence of Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Founder-Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group, Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson of AHEL, and other key dignitaries.

Addressing India’s Rising Cancer Burden

Recent GLOBOCAN 2022 estimates reveal that nearly 54% of cancers among Indian women are breast and cervical cancers. A study from the Indian Council of Medical Research’s National Cancer Registry Programme confirms this worrying trend. It highlights the urgent need for specialised cancer care tailored to women.

A Movement for Women’s Cancer Care

As reported by cnbctv18, Preetha Reddy described Apollo Athenaa as “more than a hospital – a movement to transform cancer care for women.” The centre provides a wide range of services, including preventive screenings, advanced diagnostics, surgical oncology, breast oncoplasty, fertility preservation, reconstructive care, onco-psychology, nutrition support, physiotherapy, and palliative care. These offerings are designed specifically to meet the medical and emotional needs of women.
