The Andhra Pradesh chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA-AP) has joined hands with Ipseity, a US-based research centre, to conduct a detailed study on urinary tract diseases.
Rising Concern Over Chronic UTIs
As reported by TOI, IMA-AP President Dr. G. Nanda Kishore highlighted that chronic urinary tract diseases, especially long-term urinary infections, have emerged as a major public health challenge. He noted that antibiotic treatments currently prescribed by doctors often fail to fully eliminate infections. As a result, many patients experience recurring urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Large-Scale Patient Sample and Advanced Testing
To address this issue, researchers will collect urine samples from 300 patients suffering from chronic UTIs across Andhra Pradesh. They will conduct advanced tests, including molecular PCR and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) profiling.
“Our goal is to determine which antibiotics are most effective in completely curing these infections,” Dr. Nanda Kishore said. “This research will significantly reduce both the health risks and financial burden faced by patients.” He urged IMA doctors across the state to actively support this initiative.
Bringing Advanced Diagnostics to Andhra Pradesh
Ipseity CEO Dr. Sandeep Nadendla emphasized his commitment to bringing cutting-edge diagnostics and research closer to the people of Andhra Pradesh. “Collaborative efforts between IMA Andhra Pradesh doctors and research institutions will ensure early diagnosis and more effective treatment of diseases affecting the community,” he said.
