Aster DM Healthcare Plans ₹4,000-Crore Expansion; Targets Addition of 4,080 Beds

Major Investment to Strengthen Hospital Network


Aster DM Healthcare has announced an ambitious expansion plan with a capital outlay of around ₹4,000 crore over the next few years. According to its Founder and Chairman Azad Moopen, the company aims to add approximately 4,080 hospital beds across its network.

Of the planned additions, Aster DM Healthcare will add 2,368 beds, while the remaining beds will be developed by Quality Care India Ltd (QCIL). This expansion reflects the company’s strategy to strengthen its footprint and meet the growing demand for healthcare services in India.

Merger with QCIL Moves Forward


Meanwhile, shareholders have granted final approval for the merger between Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India Ltd. The company expects to complete the merger process in the next quarter after receiving the remaining regulatory and statutory approvals from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).

Commenting on the development, Moopen stated that the strong support from shareholders demonstrates confidence in the strategic value of the merger. He emphasized that the partnership will help build a scalable and future-ready healthcare platform capable of serving millions of patients.

Expansion Projects Across Key Cities


As reported by news18, the company has already identified several major projects as part of its expansion plan. In Bengaluru, Aster will establish two new hospitals: a 430-bed facility on Sarjapur Road and a 500-bed hospital in Yeshwanthpur. In addition, the company will expand capacity by 350 beds at Aster CMI Hospital and add another 159 beds at Aster Whitefield Hospital.

At the same time, the company is strengthening its presence in Kerala. The 263-bed Aster Kasaragod Hospital became operational in October 2025. Furthermore, work is underway on the 454-bed Aster Capital Hospital, along with a 100-bed expansion at Aster Medcity.

Additional Projects in Southern India


In addition to these developments, the company plans to launch a 300-bed Women and Children’s Hospital in Hyderabad. It will also expand capacity by 75 beds at Aster Ramesh Hospital.

Through these initiatives, the merged entity aims to increase its total capacity to more than 14,710 beds in the coming years, including the planned addition of over 4,080 beds.

Leadership Structure After the Merger


Following the merger, promoters of Aster and the global investment firm Blackstone Inc. will have equal representation on the board and will jointly control the company. Independent directors will account for 50 percent of the board, ensuring strong governance.

Azad Moopen will continue as Executive Chairman. Meanwhile, Varun Khanna, currently Group Managing Director at Quality Care India Ltd, will assume the role of Managing Director and Group CEO of the merged entity.
