Aster Medcity and Wisdom4Future Make Vadi Husna Kerala’s First School of “First Responders

Vadi Husna Public School has become the first school in Kerala where the entire teaching and non-teaching staff have been trained and recognised as First Responders, enabling them to provide critical lifesaving support during emergencies.

The initiative was jointly organised by Aster Medcity and the Wisdom4Future Initiative of the Wisdom Development Foundation. The programme equipped the school staff with essential skills to respond quickly until professional medical help arrives.

Hands-on Training in Lifesaving Skills

In emergencies such as cardiac arrest, every second matters. Therefore, the staff received both theoretical and practical training in Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), choking management and other essential emergency procedures.

As per the press release, being a First Responder does not mean becoming a medical professional. Instead, it means being prepared to take the right action at the right time during a medical emergency.

Part of Mission 100K

The training forms part of Mission 100K, a public-oriented initiative launched by Wisdom4Future to equip at least one lakh people across Kerala with CPR-BLS skills. The programme aims to prepare ordinary citizens to respond effectively to life-threatening emergencies.

Teachers and other school staff play an important role in student safety. With this training, they can begin lifesaving interventions on campus while waiting for an ambulance or professional medical assistance.

Towards Safer Schools Across Kerala

The initiative also highlighted the importance of encouraging more educational institutions to train their entire staff as First Responders. A safe school, therefore, is not only about secure infrastructure but also about having trained people who can act immediately when a life is at risk.

Aster Medcity and the Wisdom4Future Initiative plan to expand the programme to more schools across Kerala and work towards making “Every School – First Responders” a reality.
