Health Minister Announces Public Outreach Initiative

Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey announced on Tuesday that the state government will organise a two-day health fair at Gyan Bhavan, starting July 11. The announcement came following a review meeting held to assess the progress of ongoing health schemes and discuss upcoming action plans.

Spreading Awareness About Government Health Services

Minister Pandey stated that the primary objective of the health fair is to inform the general public about various health services and welfare schemes offered by the department. By doing so, the government aims to ensure that more citizens across the state can access and benefit from these initiatives.

Multiple Medical Systems Under One Roof

To offer comprehensive healthcare information and services, the fair will feature separate counters for major systems of medicine, including allopathy, ayurveda, homeopathy, unani, and yoga. In addition, the fair will include around 50 OPD counters covering various specialties and 20 free medicine distribution counters where patients can receive essential medications at no cost.

Special Focus on Women’s Health and Wellness

As reported by TOI, the fair will also provide HPV vaccination, especially targeting girl students, as part of its effort to promote preventive healthcare. Minister Pandey emphasized the inclusion of a yoga camp and panchkarma medical facilities, promoting holistic well-being.

Furthermore, the health fair will include ANC check-ups for pregnant women, and offer tele-MANAS and telemedicine services, ensuring wider access to mental and general healthcare. A de-addiction centre will also be set up to support those battling substance dependence.

Senior Officials Attend Planning Meeting

The meeting that led to the decision was attended by key officials, including Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary (Health), and Suharsh Bhagat, Executive Director of the State Health Society, among others.

By bringing a wide range of healthcare services under one roof, the government hopes to bridge awareness gaps and connect more citizens to essential health programmes and services.
