BioVaram Launches Centre for Excellence in Life Sciences

BioVaram announced the establishment of a landmark Centre for Excellence in Life Sciences, focusing on tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and cell and gene therapy (CGT). The initiative is driven under the guidance of Padma Bhushan Dr KI Varaprasad Reddy, Founder of Shantha Biotechnics and Chairman and Mentor of BioVaram, alongside Dr Jaganmohan Reddy, Founder and Managing Director of the company. The centre aims to serve as a national and global innovation hub, strengthening India’s leadership in high-risk, high-impact translational research.

Public–Private Partnership with the Telangana Government

BioVaram formalised the initiative by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana at the Telangana Rising Global Summit, establishing one of India’s most significant public–private partnerships in the biotechnology sector. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu pledged full support for the centre and committed government-provided land within the upcoming Bharat Future City. The Telangana government also plans to fund the centre’s construction and operationalisation.

Investment and Infrastructure for Advanced Research

BioVaram has committed ₹250 crore to develop a fully integrated innovation ecosystem, featuring world-class infrastructure for:

*Tissue Engineering and Advanced Biomaterials

*Regenerative Medicine

*Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT)

*AI-driven bioanalytics and predictive platforms

The centre will integrate artificial intelligence into research workflows, enhancing precision and accelerating breakthroughs in life sciences.

Employment and Regional Innovation Impact

The initiative is projected to generate substantial employment and stimulate the regional innovation economy:

*50 positions for world-class scientists in regenerative biology, AI, biomaterials, and CGT

*200 direct jobs across scientific, engineering, regulatory, and operational roles

*500 indirect jobs in construction, logistics, supply chain, ancillary services, and startup ecosystems

Dr Reddy emphasized, “India has to lead the world in innovation, and Telangana has to lead India. The BioVaram Centre for Excellence stands as a testament to what visionary collaboration between government, industry, and science can achieve.”

Advancing India’s Global Leadership in Biotechnology

Dr Jaganmohan Reddy added, “With the support of the Chief Minister, Minister for Industries and Commerce, and the Telangana Government, BioVaram is moving forward with the mission to build a globally competitive ecosystem that will advance India’s leadership in regenerative medicine and AI-driven biotechnology by 2047.” Indiamedtoday.com reports that the Centre for Excellence will serve as a flagship platform for translational research, driving innovation, employment, and India’s prominence in emerging biotechnology fields.
