Cipla has partnered with the Indian National Association for the Study of the Liver (INASL) to expand Mission Defeat Hepatitis, a nationwide initiative to raise awareness, promote early diagnosis, and improve access to Hepatitis B screening across India.
According to the WHO Hepatitis Report 2026, India accounts for nearly 12% of the global Hepatitis B burden, with an estimated 4 crore people living with chronic infection. However, only 3% are diagnosed and less than 1% receive treatment, leaving millions at risk of serious liver disease.
Marking World Hepatitis Day, more than 5,000 doctors participated in a nationwide campaign supporting 1.5 lakh Hepatitis B screenings, earning recognition from the International Book of Records. The initiative is the first phase of a larger programme targeting over 2.5 lakh screenings through 8,500+ screening camps across the country.
As part of the awareness campaign, the organisers unveiled the World’s Largest Liver Model, created using Hepatitis B antigen test kit covers, to emphasize the importance of early detection.
Cipla, INASL, and leading liver specialists stressed that early diagnosis and timely treatment are essential to reducing the burden of Hepatitis B and preventing severe liver complications across India.
