Applications for medical assistance under the Maharashtra Chief Minister Relief Fund will soon be processed within just eight hours through a new online system. This move aims to provide faster financial support to poor and economically weaker sections across the state.
Online System to Streamline Process
Officials confirmed that the online facility will be launched shortly by Devendra Fadnavis. According to CMRF cell in-charge Rameshwar Naik, patients will complete the required paperwork at the hospital itself.
Once the documentation is ready, hospital authorities will directly submit the application to the CMRF cell. If all documents are in order, officials will approve the request within eight hours, significantly reducing delays.
Hospitals to Be Directly Linked
To further ease the process, the government will link hospitals directly with the CMRF system. As a result, patients will no longer need to visit multiple offices to complete formalities. This integration is expected to simplify procedures and ensure quicker access to financial aid.
Expanding Reach and Efficiency
As reported by The Indian Express, the CMRF was established to support financially disadvantaged individuals in accessing medical treatment across Maharashtra. Given that the fund receives hundreds of applications daily, the introduction of an online system marks a major step toward improving efficiency and responsiveness.
Significant Impact in Recent Year
Between April 2025 and March 2026, authorities provided financial assistance to 40,776 patients, disbursing a total of ₹333.60 crore for medical treatments. This highlights the growing reliance on the scheme for critical healthcare support.
Wider Coverage for Serious Illnesses
In addition, the scheme now covers a broader range of serious medical conditions. These include heart disease, kidney and liver disorders, neurological conditions, cancer, cochlear implants, organ transplants, and neonatal care.
Eligible patients can receive financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh for major treatments under the Maharashtra Chief Minister Relief Fund, making it a crucial safety net for vulnerable populations.
