
Superspeciality Hospital Inaugurated at BIMS
Speaking at Belagavi on Saturday after inaugurating a new superspeciality hospital on the premises of the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS), the Chief Minister said the project, which had earlier faced several hurdles, is now operational with all necessary facilities. He assured that the required doctors and paramedical staff would be recruited in a phased manner.
He also inaugurated a new NWKRTC bus terminal under the Smart City Scheme and laid the foundation stone for several development projects under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) – Multi-Disciplinary Education and Research Universities (MERU) initiative.
Healthcare for All: Government’s Priority
Mr. Siddaramaiah expressed gratitude to KLE Society Chairman Prabhakar Kore for deputing doctors to provide free services at the new superspeciality hospital. He emphasized that the government’s foremost duty is to ensure equality and extend quality healthcare to all sections of society.
“Our priority is to alleviate inequalities and ensure that the poor and downtrodden receive the best opportunities and facilities. Providing world-class medical services is both our responsibility and our commitment,” he said. He urged citizens to make full use of the quality healthcare available at the new hospital.
Belagavi to Get 100 Electric Buses Soon
Referring to the newly inaugurated bus terminal, the Chief Minister announced that Belagavi will soon receive 100 electric buses, further strengthening the city’s sustainable public transport network.
Guarantee Schemes Driving Economic Empowerment
Highlighting the impact of the government’s guarantee schemes, Mr. Siddaramaiah said these initiatives have played a crucial role in promoting economic growth and self-reliance among the poor.
Relief for Farmers Affected by Heavy Rainfall
As reported by Hindustan Times, the Chief Minister noted that North Karnataka had suffered significant damage due to heavy rainfall, including crop loss across nearly 10 lakh hectares. The government will provide ₹17,000 per hectare for arid land cultivation and ₹21,000 per hectare for irrigated land. “Since the rains are still continuing, compensation will be distributed after the completion of a joint survey,” he added.
Cancer Hospital and Infrastructure Projects in Belagavi
Public Works and Belagavi District In-Charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi announced that a dedicated cancer hospital is also being established on the BIMS campus to benefit the poor.
To tackle the city’s growing traffic congestion, a ₹200-crore flyover is under construction. In addition, a hi-tech stadium and a new Deputy Commissioner’s office worth ₹55 crore are being built. “Our government has initiated several pro-people projects,” he said.
Leaders Praise Hospital as a Milestone for Belagavi
Minister for Women and Child Development Laxmi Hebbalkar described the new hospital as “one more feather in Belagavi’s cap.” She urged citizens to make good use of the facility and maintain cleanliness in all public institutions.
Minister for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil called the hospital “a celestial Kamadhenu” for the poor, as it will provide advanced treatment without financial burden.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy spoke about the benefits of the Shakti and other guarantee schemes, while Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar announced that recruitment for Assistant Professor positions will begin shortly.
