Dr. Anirudh Lochan Enters Delhi Medical Council Election Race, Pledges Transparent and Inclusive Governance

Dr. Anirudh Lochan, Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine and Critical Care at Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, Shahdara, has officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming Delhi Medical Council (DMC) elections scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2026. The voting will take place at the DMC office in Shastri Park, Delhi, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

The election presents a significant opportunity for Delhi’s medical fraternity to choose leaders who can strengthen accountability, transparency, and professional excellence within the healthcare system.

Delhi Medical Council Plays Key Role in Healthcare Governance

Established in September 1998 under the Delhi Medical Council Act, 1997, the Delhi Medical Council functions as an autonomous statutory body that regulates the practice of modern scientific medicine (allopathy) across the National Capital Territory of Delhi. In addition, the council maintains professional ethics, ensures accountability, and supports the development of a strong healthcare ecosystem.

The DMC’s 26-member Board of Governors includes six nominated members, 11 representatives elected by faculty members from Delhi’s teaching colleges, one representative elected by Delhi Medical Association members, and eight members chosen through open voting. Consequently, the election remains a crucial pillar of democratic representation in healthcare administration.
