Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences (GEIMS) has received National Medical Commission approval for 250 MBBS seats for the 2026–27 academic session, up from 150 seats previously.
The expansion reflects the institute’s growing academic, clinical and infrastructure capacity, with the NMC linking additional seats to requirements such as faculty strength, hospital beds, laboratory facilities and clinical workload.
First Medical College Hospital with NABH 6th Edition Accreditation
As per Hindustan Times, Graphic Era Hospital has become India’s first medical college hospital to receive NABH 6th Edition Accreditation. The assessment covers more than 600 parameters, including patient safety, clinical quality, infection control and the integration of medical education with hospital care.
The institution has also strengthened its clinical infrastructure with a 3 Tesla MRI, 128-slice CT scanner and robotic surgery unit, supporting both patient care and medical training.
Strengthening Medical Education and Healthcare
GEIMS offers training across more than 20 clinical and pre-clinical departments, combining academic learning with hands-on clinical exposure and research opportunities.
Meanwhile, the hospital serves patients from Dehradun and surrounding regions and plans to expand its capacity to 1,250 beds in the coming years. With this growth, GEIMS aims to strengthen its position as a major centre for medical education and healthcare in Uttarakhand.
