Jupiter Hospital, Thane has successfully performed the world’s first robotic kidney transplant surgeries outside China using the CE-certified Toumai robotic surgical system from MicroPort MedBot. The hospital completed two consecutive kidney transplants on patients with end-stage kidney disease, both of whom recovered well.
Senior transplant surgeon Dr. P. P. Rao led the surgeries, while Dr. Lokesh Sinha performed the robotic procedures with support from a multidisciplinary transplant team. The milestone coincides with the hospital’s 15th year of its kidney transplant programme and third year of robotic kidney transplantation.
