To mark Mother’s Day, the Marengo Asia International Institute of Neuro & Spine (MAIINS) organised a special webinar that highlighted the importance of prioritising mothers’ brain health and emotional well-being. The session focused on the mental and emotional challenges mothers face while constantly caring for their families, including stress, fatigue, anxiety, headaches, poor sleep, emotional burnout, and memory fatigue.

Experts Discuss the Mental Burden Carried by Mothers

The webinar was led by Dr. Praveen Gupta, who spoke about the invisible emotional and mental burden mothers carry every day. He emphasised that women often juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while continuing to care for others.

Speaking during the webinar, Dr. Gupta said, “Mothers carry multiple emotions simultaneously. A mother hardly sleeps. Beyond being a mother at all points in time, she is also a woman who has to manage several other responsibilities. This creates a significant load on the brain.”

Furthermore, he explained that prolonged mental strain can gradually affect overall health. “This cumulative exhaustion over time can cost their health dearly,” he added.

Lack of Sleep and Multitasking Can Affect Brain Function

During the discussion, Dr. Gupta highlighted how constant multitasking and inadequate sleep can impact cognitive function in mothers. He noted that many women experience symptoms such as brain fog, memory lapses, and even pseudodementia due to chronic exhaustion.

He also underlined the critical role of sleep in maintaining brain and motor function. “Sleep is very important for motor regulation,” he stated.

Experts Share Practical Tips to Improve Mental Well-being

Sharing practical advice, Dr. Gupta encouraged mothers to prioritise restorative sleep and self-care. “Sleep is the body’s restorative charging mechanism. A deep sleep of 6–8 hours is very important. Alternatively, daytime naps can help compensate for sleep deprivation,” he said.

Meanwhile, participants actively interacted during the webinar by sharing their personal experiences and seeking guidance on improving their mental health and overall well-being.

Free Assessments Announced for Participants

As per the press release, the webinar was moderated by Dr. Kirti Yadav. At the end of the session, she announced free basic psychological and physiotherapy assessments for all participants.
