The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved financial assistance amounting to Rs 2,800 crore for the ambitious Medico City project near Rinpas in Ranchi, announced the state health department on Thursday night. Health Minister Irfan Ansari emphasized that the Medico City will host 12 super-specialty hospitals, offering advanced treatment for critical conditions such as heart, kidney, and liver diseases all under one roof.
Comprehensive Medical and Educational Facilities Planned
Moreover, the project will establish regional medical centres, along with pharmacy, nursing, and paramedical colleges. As per Times of India, the initiative aims to focus heavily on human resource development, medical and nursing education, modernization at the district level, and greater private sector participation.
Integration of Technology and Sustainable Development Goals
In addition, the project plans to incorporate green building technologies and telemedicine facilities. It will also promote public-private partnerships, aligning with several sustainable development goals (SDGs). To expedite progress, the health department revealed that the tendering process for construction and implementation will begin soon.
RIMS Approves Key Proposals in Finance Committee Meeting
In a related update, the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) approved 15 crucial proposals during a finance and accounts committee meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh. These proposals include raising stipends for MBBS and BDS students to match those at AIIMS, New Delhi.
New Appointments and Modernization Efforts at RIMS
Furthermore, the committee sanctioned the creation of nine new positions for assistant professors and senior residents to address staffing shortages. They also approved the purchase of a blood mobile transportation van and plans for modernizing RIMS buildings, among other initiatives.
