Over 350 women, including breast cancer survivors and caregivers, participated in the Spirit of Pink walkathon, all wearing pink turbans—a symbol of strength, solidarity, and hope. The event reflected the power of community and collective action in the fight against breast cancer.

Usha Soman Leads the Walk

She led the ceremonial flag-off and joined participants on the 5-kilometre walk through Juhu and Vile Parle (East). Her presence and message of lifelong fitness inspired the crowd to embrace wellness at every age.

An Energising Start to a Meaningful Morning

As per the press release, the event began at 6:30 AM, with a high-energy musical warm-up session that set a lively tone for the morning. Turning Awareness into Action

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Garvit Chitkara, Associate Director – Breast Oncology, Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, said:

“Events like today’s walk turn awareness into action. Most breast cancers are treatable—often with breast-conserving options—if detected early. We urge women to remain vigilant, undergo regular screening, and consult their doctors about any concerning changes. Early evaluation can save lives.”

Illuminating the City in Pink

To extend the message of awareness, Nanavati Max Hospital illuminated its structure and the iconic Asiatic Society of Mumbai Town Hall in Fort in pink, symbolising hope and unity in the battle against breast cancer. The hospital aimed to demystify the disease, break societal stigma, and empower women to prioritise preventive health.

Reinforcing Commitment to Breast Health

The walkathon concluded with a collective pledge to keep conversations around breast health alive throughout the year. Participants also reaffirmed their support for those undergoing treatment, reflecting Nanavati Max’s enduring commitment to compassionate, patient-centric oncology care and meaningful community outreach.
