NIT Tiruchirappalli and Kauvery Hospital Launch Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Technology

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli has partnered with Kauvery Hospital, Trichy, to launch a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Technology, marking an important step toward integrating engineering expertise with real-world healthcare applications.

This collaborative initiative aims to strengthen healthcare innovation, research, and skill development by bringing together the technical capabilities of NIT Tiruchirappalli and the clinical expertise of Kauvery Group of Hospitals.

Programme to Begin in July 2026

The Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICE) at NIT Tiruchirappalli will offer the programme, which is scheduled to commence in July 2026.

The course has been carefully designed to equip students with practical knowledge and interdisciplinary skills required in the rapidly evolving healthcare technology sector.

Industry-Oriented Curriculum and Hands-On Training

The Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Technology will include a range of industry-focused learning opportunities. These include:

  • Microcredit courses covering emerging healthcare technologies
  • Guest lectures by industry experts and clinicians
  • On-site internships at Kauvery Hospitals
  • Student projects addressing real-world healthcare challenges
  • Joint research initiatives and continuing education opportunities

Through these components, students will gain practical exposure to healthcare systems, medical devices, and digital health technologies, thereby bridging the gap between academic knowledge and clinical practice.

MoU Formalises Academic–Healthcare Collaboration

To formalise the partnership, Dr. G. Aghila, Director of NIT Tiruchirappalli, and Dr. S. Manivannan Selvaraj, Founder and Managing Director of Kauvery Group of Hospitals, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The agreement establishes a collaborative framework that will support education, research, and innovation at the intersection of engineering and healthcare.

Aligning with National Education Policy 2020

Highlighting the significance of the programme, Dr. G. Aghila stated that the initiative has been developed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

“This Postgraduate Diploma programme has been thoughtfully designed to address current challenges and emerging trends in the healthcare sector. By bringing together the strong technical capabilities of NIT Tiruchirappalli and the clinical expertise of Kauvery Hospital, the programme will promote meaningful research and innovation while creating structured pathways for higher education, research, and advanced professional certifications aligned with evolving industry needs,” she said.

Speaking about the collaboration, Dr. Manivannan Selvaraj emphasized the importance of connecting academic learning with real-world healthcare applications.
