Global health technology leader Philips has expanded its collaboration with Nicolab, a pioneering company in AI-powered stroke care, to strengthen stroke diagnosis and treatment in India. This partnership marks a significant milestone in addressing one of India’s most urgent health challenges by combining Philips’ imaging expertise with Nicolab’s StrokeViewer AI platform.

With nearly 1.8 million new stroke cases annually, India faces a growing burden of disability and mortality. Timely diagnosis and intervention remain critical; however, delays in accessing specialized care continue to hinder outcomes. The collaboration aims to transform this landscape by delivering faster, more precise, and accessible stroke care across the country.

AI-Driven Precision with StrokeViewer

StrokeViewer—the first cloud-based solution in India with regulatory clearance for CT Perfusion (CTP) analysis—provides instant AI-generated imaging results, centralized patient information, and seamless communication among specialists. By integrating this platform with Philips’ Azurion image-guided therapy system, clinicians can make quicker, data-driven decisions for better patient outcomes.

Enhancing Stroke Intervention with Azurion

As reported by Express Healthcare, the Azurion platform combines real-time high-resolution imaging, advanced navigation tools, and smooth integration with AI solutions like StrokeViewer. This enables physicians to review DICOM scans and AI results directly on Azurion, assess a patient’s eligibility for interventional treatment, and use 3D planning tools to determine the best access route and viewing angles—even before the procedure begins.

Commitment to Accessible and Efficient Stroke Care

“Stroke is a growing healthcare challenge in India, where every minute makes a difference to patient outcomes,” said Gaurav Vyas, Business Leader, Image Guided Therapy, Philips Indian Subcontinent. “At Philips, we are committed to leveraging technology and partnerships to improve access, efficiency, and quality of care. By joining hands with Nicolab, we are bringing an AI-driven, connected stroke solution that empowers clinicians to act faster, improve outcomes, and extend timely care even to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Ultimately, this collaboration ensures better care for more people.”

India presents both a significant challenge and a tremendous opportunity. Through our partnership with Philips, we aim to connect hospitals, empower clinicians, and shorten the time between diagnosis and treatment. Together, we are building capacity, strengthening networks, and ensuring innovation reaches every patient who can benefit.”

Seamless Collaboration and Confident Diagnosis

Nicolab’s StrokeViewer AI analyzes multiple imaging biomarkers, enabling faster and more confident diagnosis. Stroke teams can collaborate securely through a DICOM viewer certified for diagnostic use on both mobile and desktop platforms. This ensures that clinicians can access critical imaging and patient data anytime, anywhere. Every second counts in stroke care, and this connectivity helps save time.

Global Partnerships Driving Innovation

Philips continues to collaborate with a global network of hospitals, research institutions, and technology partners. This includes Nicolab, to advance stroke diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, its strategic partnership with the World Stroke Organization (WSO) underscores its commitment to improving outcomes for stroke patients worldwide.
