Piyush Goyal Launches Dedicated MedTech Capital Fund for Indian Startups

₹1,000 Crore Fund to Support MedTech Growth

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has launched India’s first dedicated MedTech Capital Fund to support medical device startups and strengthen domestic manufacturing.

The fund, launched in Mumbai on March 15, 2026, is a partnership between Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) and MedArtha Capital. The proposed fund has a corpus of around ₹1,000 crore, with government participation through the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) scheme.

Capital and Manufacturing Support

As per The MedTech Pulse, the fund aims to address the capital challenges faced by medical device companies, which require significant investment for research, regulatory approvals and manufacturing scale-up.

Furthermore, startups backed by the fund will have access to AMTZ’s manufacturing, testing and certification infrastructure, along with support for regulatory navigation and commercial expansion.

Focus on Growth-Stage Companies

MedArtha Capital plans to support around 10–12 growth-stage MedTech companies, with a focus on building globally competitive businesses from India.
