Built around simple and practical lifestyle modifications, Project Khushi is a three-month, structured, evidence-based health and wellness initiative designed exclusively for Bengaluru City Police personnel. The program delivered measurable and encouraging outcomes. Notably, 61 percent of participants successfully managed and reduced their blood sugar levels, while nearly 60 percent achieved weight loss ranging from 0.5 kg to 6.1 kg within just three months.
Why Police Personnel Needed a Focused Wellness Initiative
Police personnel routinely work long hours in high-stress environments, often with irregular schedules and disturbed sleep patterns. Consequently, they face a higher risk of metabolic disorders, which directly affect not only personal health but also professional efficiency and overall quality of life. Recognizing these challenges, City Police Commissioner Shri Seemant Kumar Singh, IPS, strongly advocated for a structured health initiative. In collaboration with the Happiest Health team, this vision led to the launch of Project Khushi.
From Small Steps to Lasting Habits
Launched on 11 September 2025, Project Khushi began with simple, achievable health practices. Over time, these small steps evolved into sustainable habits. As a result, participants embarked on a journey rooted in hope, commitment, and consistency.
As per the press release, the program combined both physical and digital engagement. In addition, a dedicated WhatsApp support group provided daily nudges, exercise prompts, and nutrition guidance. Importantly, all participants underwent blood tests both before and after the program, enabling objective assessment of health improvements.
Visible Change on the Ground
The impact of Project Khushi soon became evident. Speaking at the closing ceremony on 18 December 2025, the Police Commissioner observed noticeable behavioral changes.
“It was a pleasant surprise to see police personnel walking during afternoons, which was a rarity earlier,” he remarked.
Encouraged by these results, Shri Seemant Kumar Singh announced,
“We will make Project Khushi a permanent program for Bengaluru Police, and an MoU will be signed with Happiest Health for the same.”
A Program for Life, Not Just 90 Days
Furthermore, the Police Commissioner emphasized that Project Khushi should extend beyond its initial 90-day duration. He urged participants to continue these healthy practices throughout their lives. Those who actively engaged in the initiative, he added, would serve as brand ambassadors of Project Khushi within their respective divisions.
As an active member of the Project Khushi WhatsApp group himself, the Commissioner highlighted how the initiative created sustained health awareness.
“Annual medical check-ups create awareness for a few days, but this project has made police personnel consistently conscious about their health,” he noted.
Lifestyle Shifts Beyond the Individual
Sharing further insights, Narayana M, DCP, Electronic City, and nodal officer for Project Khushi, described how the interactive sessions encouraged self-reflection on lifestyle choices.
“Through these sessions, we interacted with leading specialist doctors. Our diet and sleep patterns improved, family interactions became better, and participation at work increased,” he said.
Notably, the transformation extended to workplace culture. Junk food such as chips disappeared from meetings and was replaced with healthier options. This shift was clearly visible during the Project Khushi event, where fruits were served instead of fried snacks. The same practice, the Police Chief confirmed, has now been adopted across police divisions.
Additionally, Narayana emphasized that the program effectively addressed stress management, leading to improved mental well-being among participants.
Expert Perspective on Sustainable Health
Commenting on the initiative, Ravi Joshi, Co-Chief Executive Officer, Knowledge, said,
“Project Khushi is a powerful reminder that sustainable health comes from small, consistent, science-backed habits rather than drastic interventions. Police personnel work under immense physical and mental pressure, and this initiative demonstrates that meaningful change is possible with the right support system. At Happiest Health, our mission has always been to make preventive healthcare practical and accessible, and partnering with the Bengaluru City Police strongly reinforces that commitment.”
