RGCIRC (Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre) hosted NURSICON 2026 – “Threads of Hope: Oncology Nursing Care Beyond Cure” on September 18 and 19, bringing together nursing professionals, clinicians and healthcare experts to discuss the evolving role of oncology nurses.
The two-day coanference highlighted the contribution of nurses across the cancer care journey, from treatment and patient safety to supportive care, rehabilitation and survivorship.
Emphasis on Nurse Wellbeing and Patient Safety
The programme featured scientific sessions, panel discussions and abstract presentations covering end-of-life care, systemic therapy, paediatric oncology, infection prevention, nutrition, wound management, ostomy care and bone marrow transplant support.
A key panel, “Happy Hormones, Healthy Nurses: Can Wellbeing Transform Patient Care?”, explored the link between nurse wellbeing and quality patient care. As per the press release, the conference also highlighted nurses as “safety sentinels” who help identify risks, coordinate care and protect patients.
Strengthening Oncology Nursing
Col. Madhumita Dhall, Director of Nursing, RGCIRC, said:
