Healthium Medtech and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) have launched the first cohort of the C-CAMP Healthium Innovations Program for Surgical Interventions and Medical Technologies in Bengaluru.

This initiative, part of Healthium Medtech’s CSR efforts, aims to foster deep-science innovations in digitally enabled medical technologies that are affordable, scalable, and clinically impactful. In its first year, the program focuses on surgical interventions—an area experiencing rapid global modernisation but still struggling with limited access and affordability in India.

Bridging Gaps in Surgical Access

While metropolitan hospitals increasingly adopt advanced surgical technologies, smaller healthcare systems in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities remain underserved. Imported solutions often carry high costs, and infrastructure and training gaps further restrict access to modern surgical care.

To tackle these challenges, the program nurtures India-led, frugal, and scalable innovations designed for local needs—without compromising quality or outcomes.

Complementary Strengths for a Shared Mission

As per the press release, this collaboration unites two organisations with distinct strengths. Healthium Medtech contributes deep expertise in surgical and post-surgical technologies, backed by six globally certified facilities and more than 85 patents across India, the US, and Europe. Meanwhile, C-CAMP, supported by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has built one of India’s strongest life sciences innovation ecosystems, supporting over 550 deep-tech start-ups and engaging with more than 3,000 others.

Together, they provide clinical insights, market access, and ecosystem support, helping early-stage ventures bridge the gap from research to commercialisation.

Showcasing the First Cohort

The launch event featured inaugural addresses, a start-up showcase, and a campus tour. The first cohort includes ventures such as BrainSight AI, Nesa Medtech, Cartosense, Shira Medtech, Samaritan AI, Quixotix, Roots to Cusps, and Healyantra. These start-ups are developing solutions in neurology, urology, AI-enabled surgical planning, and diagnostic imaging.

Leadership Perspectives

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Anish Bafna, CEO and Managing Director of Healthium Medtech, said:
“At Healthium, our vision has always been to make quality healthcare more accessible. By collaborating with C-CAMP, we are creating a strong platform for innovators tackling pressing surgical and medical challenges in India. The first cohort reflects the breadth of ideas and talent that can truly shape the future of healthcare.”

Dr. Taslimarif Saiyed, CEO and Director of C-CAMP, added:
“India’s medtech ecosystem is at a critical juncture where innovation must align with affordability and scalability. Through this program with Healthium, we are enabling start-ups not only with resources and mentorship but also with an ecosystem that can transform their technologies into impactful solutions at scale.”
