AIIMS Guwahati inaugurated a state-of-the-art Neurosurgical Operation Theatre (OT), significantly enhancing its super-specialty healthcare capabilities. The new facility is expected to transform the treatment landscape for complex brain and spine disorders across the North-East region. The advanced OT was formally inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Puranik, Executive Director of AIIMS Guwahati, in the presence of senior officials, including Surendra Kumar Majhi from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.

CSR Support Drives Advanced Infrastructure

The cutting-edge neurosurgical OT has been developed with financial assistance of ₹6.5 crore under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Power Grid Corporation. This funding has enabled the hospital to procure modern neurosurgical equipment designed to improve surgical precision, enhance patient safety, and deliver better clinical outcomes. Moreover, the integration of advanced technology will allow surgeons to handle highly complex neurological procedures with greater efficiency and accuracy.

Leadership Emphasises Collaborative Growth

Prof. Puranik highlighted the importance of institutional collaborations in strengthening healthcare infrastructure, particularly in emerging medical institutions. He reaffirmed AIIMS Guwahati’s commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare services to underserved populations in the North-East. Surendra Kumar Majhi reiterated Power Grid Corporation’s focus on impactful CSR initiatives, especially in critical sectors like healthcare, where such investments can create long-term societal benefits.

Enhanced Capacity for Complex Cases

The newly launched neurosurgical OT is set to significantly improve the diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex neurological cases. In addition, it will help AIIMS Guwahati manage its growing patient load more effectively. As a key referral centre for the entire North-East region, the institution plays a vital role in delivering specialised care. With this new facility in place, patients can now access advanced neurosurgical treatment closer to home, reducing the need for long-distance travel.

As reported by indiatodayne.in, with the addition of this advanced Neurosurgical OT, AIIMS Guwahati has taken a significant step toward strengthening tertiary healthcare infrastructure in the region. Backed by strategic CSR support, the initiative underscores how public institutions and corporate partnerships can work together to bridge critical healthcare gaps and improve patient outcomes.
