AIIMS Leads at 6th, Tata Memorial at 13th in Brand Finance Global Top Hospitals 2026

India’s premier medical institutions—All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), Mumbai—have earned top positions in the Brand Finance Global Top 250 Hospitals 2026 report. AIIMS secured the 6th rank globally, while TMC ranked 13th, underscoring India’s growing influence in the global healthcare landscape.

Global Recognition Signals India’s Rising Healthcare Brand

Brand Finance released the 2026 rankings on February 5, 2026, at the London Stock Exchange. Notably, AIIMS Delhi ranked 6th worldwide for brand strength, emerging as the strongest hospital brand in South Asia. In doing so, it surpassed several long-established academic medical centres in Europe and North America.

Together, the rankings mark a significant milestone for India’s public healthcare system, reflecting excellence across both comprehensive multispecialty care and highly specialised cancer services.

AIIMS New Delhi Leads in Brand Strength

With a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 79.9 out of 100, AIIMS New Delhi earned recognition for its extensive research output and its pivotal role in training generations of globally respected clinicians. The report highlighted AIIMS’ near-universal awareness among healthcare professionals worldwide.

Moreover, Brand Finance credited the institution for its ability to manage extremely high patient volumes while maintaining strong clinical outcomes and academic leadership.

Tata Memorial Centre Emerges as a Global Oncology Leader

As reported by Republic World, meanwhile, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, featured prominently in the specialised hospital rankings, securing the 13th position globally. Widely regarded as the “Harvard of Indian Oncology,” TMC received praise for its leadership in cancer research, development of affordable treatment protocols, and its role in Department of Atomic Energy–supported medical programmes.

Its inclusion among the world’s top hospital brands reinforces India’s strength in specialised, high-impact cancer care.

Global Context Highlights Closing East–West Gap

At the global level, Johns Hopkins Medicine and Oxford University Hospitals retained the top two positions. However, the 2026 report emphasised that the gap between Western and Asian healthcare brands is narrowing rapidly.

Importantly, the report noted that Indian hospitals are increasingly recognised for delivering value-based care. By integrating advanced technologies such as generative artificial intelligence and robotic-assisted surgery at significantly lower costs, Indian institutions are redefining global benchmarks for accessible, high-quality healthcare.
