Aster Invests ₹96 Crore, Expands Whitefield Hospital to 539 Beds

Aster DM Healthcare, one of India’s leading integrated healthcare providers, has invested ₹96 crore to expand its Women & Children facility at Whitefield Hospital. This strategic move reflects the organization’s continued focus on strengthening specialized care for mothers and children.

Enhanced Capacity and Comprehensive Care

With this expansion, Aster Whitefield Hospital will increase its total bed capacity from 380 to 539 beds. Notably, the newly developed 159-bed Women & Children unit is designed to provide end-to-end maternity care, beginning from the preconception stage through childbirth and beyond.

Moreover, the facility will offer a wide spectrum of advanced services, including water birthing, laparoscopic gynaecology procedures, and a dedicated child development centre. In addition, it will house a foetal medicine and surgery unit, a Level 3A NICU, a fertility centre, neonatal and pediatric surgical services, as well as a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and high dependency unit (HDU).

Inauguration by Key Dignitaries

As reported by The Hindu Business Line, the expanded facility was inaugurated by Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, and U. T. Khader, Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The event also witnessed the presence of U.T. Iftikhar Ali, Chairman of the Karnataka State Allied and Healthcare Council.

Leadership Perspective on Expansion

Speaking on the occasion, Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, emphasized the growing demand for high-quality maternal and pediatric care. He stated that the expansion underscores Aster’s commitment to building centres of excellence that combine advanced infrastructure with specialized expertise. Furthermore, he highlighted the organization’s goal of delivering compassionate, world-class care under one roof while setting new regional benchmarks.

Strengthening Maternal and Child Healthcare

Echoing similar sentiments, Dinesh Gundu Rao noted that urban centres like Bengaluru are witnessing a rising need for specialized maternal and child healthcare services. He added that dedicated facilities such as Aster Women and Children Hospital play a crucial role in improving accessibility and health outcomes. Consequently, such initiatives contribute significantly to building a more resilient and healthier society.

Expanding Regional Footprint

Importantly, this development aligns with Aster’s broader expansion plans in Karnataka. It builds on the upcoming 500-bed hospital in Yeshwantpur and the 430-bed facility in Sarjapur. As a result, Aster’s total bed capacity in the state will reach 2,573 beds, further strengthening its regional presence and healthcare delivery capabilities.
