Aster Volunteers, the global CSR initiative of Aster DM Healthcare, has strengthened its community outreach by launching five new mobile medical units (MMUs). With this addition, its global fleet has expanded to 76 units, including 54 operating across India.

Bringing Healthcare Closer to Communities

These mobile units aim to deliver essential healthcare services directly to underserved populations. Specifically, they will offer free primary consultations, screening for non-communicable diseases, maternal and child healthcare, health education, and referrals for advanced treatment.

Moreover, each unit is equipped with medical-grade facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and quality care at the community level.

Focus on Underserved Urban Populations

As reported by The Hindu, the newly launched MMUs will be deployed across Ranchi, Kanpur, Bhopal, Jaipur, and Bhubaneswar.

Importantly, the initiative targets vulnerable urban groups, including street dwellers, slum residents, the elderly, and the homeless—segments that often face significant barriers to accessing formal healthcare systems.

Strengthening Last-Mile Healthcare Access

While flagging off the units, Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster Group, emphasised the initiative’s goal of improving last-mile healthcare delivery.

He highlighted that by bringing essential medical services directly to communities, the programme aims to promote preventive screening, enable early diagnosis, and ensure timely medical intervention.

A Step Towards Inclusive Healthcare

Overall, this expansion reflects Aster Volunteers’ continued commitment to inclusive and accessible healthcare. By extending services beyond hospital settings and into communities, the initiative seeks to bridge critical gaps in urban healthcare access and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
