CBMR Celebrates 19th Foundation Day, Highlights Advances in Biomedical Research

Speaking at the 19th Foundation Day of the Centre of BioMedical Research in Lucknow on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak emphasized the critical role of research in delivering better and advanced treatment options. He praised CBMR for its contributions in the fields of neuroimaging, biomarker discovery, drug discovery, molecular diagnostics, and translational medicine.

“CBMR is emerging as a national translational research institute,” Pathak stated. “There is a growing need for new medicines, implants, and technologies. To achieve this, we must prioritize patent generation and enhance collaboration with international institutions.”

Director Showcases Institutional Achievements

As reported by Hindustan Times, Professor Alok Dhawan, Director of CBMR, presented a comprehensive report on the institute’s recent progress. He highlighted the Centre’s increasing focus on intellectual property rights (IPR), innovation ecosystems, and cross-disciplinary collaborations. According to him, CBMR remains committed to delivering affordable, accessible, and advanced healthcare solutions through ongoing scientific innovation.

Recognition for Research Excellence

To foster a culture of high-impact research, CBMR conferred the “CBMR Research Publication Award” to six faculty members. Professor Sanjeev Misra, Vice-Chancellor of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU), Lucknow, felicitated the awardees. He acknowledged their significant contributions to the field of biomedical research and their role in elevating CBMR’s research profile.

Strategic Collaborations to Boost Translational Research

On the occasion, CBMR signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with four renowned institutions: Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (Lucknow), the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (New Delhi), AIIMS – Rae Bareli, and Amity University (Lucknow Campus). These collaborations aim to bolster CBMR’s capacity for impactful translational research and promote interdisciplinary partnerships.

Through these initiatives, CBMR continues to strengthen its position as a leading hub for biomedical innovation and translational science in India.
