Fortis Healthcare has decided to expand its network of obesity clinics in response to a sharp increase in demand for weight‑loss drugs and structured weight management programs. The company plans to leverage its existing hospital infrastructure to meet this growing need.
Clinic Network Expansion Strategy
Already, Fortis has established obesity clinics in Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Over the next year, it will launch 13 more across Punjab, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Haryana. The company will staff each clinic with endocrinologists, weight‑loss surgeons, nutritionists, dietitians, and psychologists to create customized plans for patients.
Market Growth and Therapeutic Push
The introduction of popular weight‑loss drugs such as Eli Lilly’s Mounjaro and Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy in India has sparked heightened patient interest. As a result, Fortis executives note that patients now actively seek more guided, medically supervised weight management solutions.
As per Economic Times, the Indian obesity drug market has already grown fivefold since 2021, reaching ₹6.28 billion. Fortis attributes much of this surge to competitive pricing and increasing patient openness to novel therapies.
Financial Commitment and Long-Term Goals
To support this expansion, Fortis plans to invest ₹7 billion over the next four years to enhance capacity in Bengaluru, Mumbai, the National Capital Region, and Punjab. The company aims to achieve high‑teens percentage revenue growth over time.
By scaling its obesity clinic infrastructure and integrating drug therapies with multidisciplinary care, Fortis Healthcare expects to solidify its role in India’s evolving weight management landscape.
