Government Launches Affordable Cloud-Based HMIS for Small Clinics

The Central Government will launch e-Sushrut Clinic, a lightweight, cloud-based Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), to help small healthcare facilities digitise their daily operations. Developed by C-DAC, the platform is designed for outpatient clinics, primary health centres, health and wellness centres, sub-centres, and private clinics.

Simplifying Clinic Operations

The new system will automate essential tasks such as patient registration, billing, MIS reporting, speech-to-text documentation, and clinical decision support. Since the platform is cloud-based, healthcare providers can adopt it without investing in expensive IT infrastructure or requiring advanced technical expertise.

As reported by The Economic Times, the initiative addresses a key challenge faced by smaller healthcare facilities, where existing hospital management software is often too costly and complex, forcing many providers to rely on manual processes.

ABDM Integration and Easy Access

The platform integrates with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and supports features such as the Health Professional Registry (HPR), Health Facility Registry (HFR), speech-to-text capabilities, and clinical decision support. However, only healthcare professionals registered under the HPR will be eligible to use the system.

Affordable Pricing and Expansion Plans

The government has priced the software at ₹499 per month for up to five users. Under a partnership between the National Health Authority (NHA) and C-DAC, eligible users will receive a ₹200 monthly subsidy, reducing the effective cost to ₹299 per month. Additionally, users can access the platform free for the first three months, while each additional user will cost ₹50 per month.

More than 800 health facilities have already adopted e-Sushrut Clinic, generating over 680 health records. Going forward, the NHA will support cloud hosting, SMS services, and customer support, while C-DAC will maintain, upgrade, and expand the platform across healthcare facilities nationwide.
