PM Modi Unveils MAISP to Digitally Transform Traditional Medicine Delivery

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the closing ceremony of the Second WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine on 19 December 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. During the event, he also addressed the gathering, reaffirming India’s growing leadership and pioneering role in shaping a global, science-based, and people-centred agenda for Traditional Medicine.

Focus on Mainstreaming Traditional Medicine Globally

Throughout his address, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of mainstreaming Traditional Medicine and the Indian Knowledge System through research, standardisation, and global collaboration. In line with this vision, the programme highlighted India’s sustained efforts to integrate Traditional Medicine into modern healthcare frameworks at both national and international levels.

Launch of Landmark Ayush Digital and Quality Initiatives

On the occasion, the Prime Minister launched several landmark initiatives in the Ayush sector. Notably, he unveiled the My Ayush Integrated Services Portal (MAISP), a comprehensive digital platform designed to serve as a master portal for Ayush-related services. In addition, he introduced the Ayush Mark, envisioned as a global benchmark for quality, safety, and credibility of Ayush products and services.

Release of WHO Report, Ayush Publication, and Commemorative Stamp

As reported by pib.gov.in, further strengthening global engagement, the Prime Minister released the WHO technical report on training in Yoga. He also unveiled the book “From Roots to Global Reach: 11 Years of Transformation in Ayush,” which documented the sector’s progress over the past decade. Additionally, he released a commemorative postal stamp on Ashwagandha, symbolising the worldwide recognition of India’s traditional medicinal heritage.

Inauguration of WHO South-East Asia Regional Office Complex

In a significant milestone for global health collaboration, the Prime Minister inaugurated the new WHO South-East Asia Regional Office complex in New Delhi. The facility also housed the WHO India Country Office, thereby marking a major step forward in strengthening India’s partnership with the World Health Organization.

Recognition of Excellence in Yoga Promotion

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister felicitated the recipients of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Promotion and Development of Yoga for the years 2021 to 2025. Through these awards, the government recognised individuals and institutions for their sustained efforts in promoting Yoga globally. The initiative reaffirmed Yoga as a timeless practice that fosters balance, well-being, and harmony.

Visit to Traditional Medicine Discovery Space

Subsequently, the Prime Minister visited the Traditional Medicine Discovery Space, an exhibition showcasing the diversity, depth, and contemporary relevance of Traditional Medicine knowledge systems from India and across the world.

Global Summit Fostered Dialogue on Evidence-Based Health Systems

Jointly organised by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, the Summit was held from 17 to 19 December 2025 under the theme “Restoring Balance: The Science and Practice of Health and Well-being.” Over the three days, the Summit witnessed extensive deliberations among global leaders, policymakers, scientists, practitioners, Indigenous knowledge holders, and civil society representatives. These discussions focused on advancing equitable, sustainable, and evidence-driven health systems worldwide.
